New Orleans Shrimp or Fish Creole Recipe
The classic Creole sauce in this recipe originated from the need to prepare a simple one pot dish to feed families using inexpensive ingredients that were widely available. This may have been ordinary fare years ago, but today it has become a special dish served on special occasions.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup water
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 1 package Cookin' Cajun Royal Street Sauce a la Creole Seasoning Blend
- 1 lb peeled shrimp or cubed fish fillets; uncooked
- 4 cups cooked rice
Directions:
Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add water, tomato sauce and contents of Creole Seasoning Blend. Add peeled shrimp or fish after sauce is mixed. Cover and cook for 20 minutes or until seafood is cooked. Serve with rice. Makes 4 servings.
