Bayou Barataria Jambalaya Recipe
Try this easy recipe for Jambalaya. It can also be made as a seafood Jambalaya, where precooked crawfish, shrimp, crab or lobster is added towards the end so they don't overcook.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1 lb. chicken, sausage, and/or ham
- 8 oz. crushed tomatoes
- 1 1/4 cups uncooked rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 package Cookin' Cajun Jambalaya Seasoning Blend
Directions:
Melt butter or margarine in a large, deep sided frying pan over medium-high heat. Add chicken, sausage, and or ham and brown well. Add tomatoes, rice, water and Jambalaya Seasoning Blend. Stir well to combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat for 25 to 30 minutes or until rice is done.
If desired add cooked seafood such as shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
Turn off heat, stir once, cover, and allow rice to steam and fluff for 5 to 7 minutes before serving.
