Chicken Creole Recipe
Chicken Creole is a classic New Orleans dish that is often confused with Chicken Étouffée. The Creoles were very fond of tomatoes, which is one of the main ingredients in this dish, and distinguishes it from an Étouffée.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter or margarine
- 4 to 6 pieces of chicken; breasts, thighs, drumsticks or wings
- 1/2 cup water
- 15 oz. of tomato sauce
- 1 package Cookin' Cajun Royal Street Sauce a la Creole Seasoning Blend
- 4 to 6 cups cooked rice
Directions:
Melt butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 4 to 6 pieces of chicken and brown well. Add water, tomato sauce and contents of Creole Seasoning Blend. Mix well. Cover and cook for 30 minutes or until chicken is tender. Serve over rice. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
